This is not a straight forward restoration. The original picture was not damaged, but the truck needed a paint job. There was some research required to determine detail and paint.

The transformation is stunning! The paint for this model was a satin finish. The rims were painted white, standard issue for the time.

Restorations can be simple cloning,
rebuilding a destroyed photo, removing a cast or restoring color from a favorite faded picture. This photo was the result of poor lighting, exposure, development or choice of film.

There is a fine line between a restoration and a correction. I consider this a restoration of intent. This was a fairly simple correction. I added the lighting effects before I adjusted the cast to increase detail and drama.
The damage done to this photo is beyond restoration. The client's father was far to the right and in good condition. To make the photo whole again, I had to re-create the soldiers on the left by utilizing parts from the right.

The "replaced" soldiers are clones, individual composites created from the soldiers on the right. To view the entire photo, click HERE.

My understanding of color allows me to make dramatic corrections with a minimum of effort. To view the result, click on the photo.

This "turn of the century" photo was restored using "channel mixing" Understanding channels is vital restorations.
